Some Algeroth goodies and Warzone battle report!

Hey again,

Last Saturday night something happened.
Something BIG. So big I had to take pictures during the event so no one can say I am lying.
We played Warzone.
WARZONE 1.0!

Only base, unbalanced rules and units!
Last time we played that thing was like 15 years ago? Back then the battlefield was piece of carpet and most of terrain features were made of boxes covered with (mostly green) rag. As you can see our gaming conditions developed slightly since that ^^

Anyway the battle was quick, test 500 pts combat between forces of Algeroth and Capitol patrol. It was lots of fun and like after 15 mins since the start I recalled all those stupid rules and overboosted characters.
Some pics were taken but I definitely need another lamp or two exactly over the battlefield: camera's flash makes most of them just overburnt and further GIMP manpulation cannot fix it. I also think I will cover the table with layer of very diluted pva mixed with olive pigment so the surface is less reflective.

So here's the field of glory.
In the back left - my bike (now I can see these shiny bits make me much more visible while riding in the night), in the back right: 2/3 of my oponent.

Forces of Algeroth:
Nepharite, immaculate fury, squad of undead legionnaires, squad of necromutants.

Capitol patrol:
HMG operator on the hill back, squad of heavy infantry, squad of sunset strikers supported by hero wielding flamethrower.

Deaders advancing. Massive Kratach salvo put one of infantrymen down, immaculate fury put a bullet between eyes sunset striker. Heavy infantry failed panic roll and decided to step away from legionnaires line of rotten sight.

Capitol forces taking defensive positions: all those motherlovers are hidind and the hero controlling the hill is on overwatch. That sneaky bastard called airstrike over my forces so several zombies and necromutant leader were sent back to Algeroth.

Aerial view from the necrodrone.

My turn to play nasty!
Since I really enjoy playing WYSISYG my nepharite was melee monster (too bad that goddamn Sunset Striker badass wasn't much worse...) so in the following turn he casted compression spell, launched from the trench into infantry group killing 3 soliders (and making them run like bitches) and wounding Strikers hero and that was it.
On that moment  I didn't see brutal retaliation coming...

Necromutants commando advancing to take down hero from the hill:
that fucker was calling bombardment every turn destroying my precious zombies.
Didn't he know how expensive re-animating fluid really was?!?!?!?

Like down below:
direct hit and 4 more corpses cannot carry their guns anymore.

On the oppisite side of the battlefield Strikers are getting closer to deal with remaining legionnaires and immaculate fury - didn't expect that model and not nepharite might survive the battle. Ooops!

Another round of epic duel:
Striker is still alive and spawn of Algeroth got 2 wounds!

Good news is necromutants managed to take down Capitol hero even though he was wearing armoured skin implant! Bad news is in the back: nepharite is down...

Immaculate fury is taking command over remaining zombies and preparing for the Sunset Strikers assault. Necromutants are trying to get some tigger time as well - boosted by previous success.

Another snapshot from the necrodrone:
legionnaires were taking down by well aimed Strikers' shots. Half of necromutants squad was burnt to stinky ashes by Strikers hero - who earned piece of lead between ears seconds later. Once again immaculate fury proves itself worthy bearing badge of badass of the match!

And the final pictures:
the last Sunset Striker looked at advancing enemy and since his charge range was shorter than Legion's ranged weapons, he decided turn back (with class of course) and easily, not running at all, leave the desert to report what happened.

Dessert time!
I've finally managed to finish one of the first models purchased ever: these were immaculate fury and Valpurgius (that one was painted by Dead Dogg - I didn't manage to deal with that piece despite several attempts).
I was always sure the model was cool but sadly it's just best of all 4 furies released - apart from sentimental value it's just what you see. And of course it survived the last game.

On the other hand horny piggy on the left is one of my fav classic Warzone models ever released. Paintjob is clearly based on the official painting but looks like it's just shade of oldschool glory - it's always the same if you try to copy someone's work. I am satisfied anyway - looks really cool among horde of of undead legionnaires and can be one big pain in the ass on the battlefield.
Hope you like them both!

Warzone pig party: tekron and kadavers

Heil Algeroth!!!

Pyrkon is over so we can go back to the blogging routine.
Just before going to the event I finished oldie tekron model. As it was written before those old, ugly farts can really appreciate a bit of attention and fresh paint.
Sculpt itself is just damn ugly but after the painting was done it was immediately promoted to badass boss for the campaign game.

No boss, no matter how bad, can operate without trusty servants:
especially master of necrotechnology and Dark Harmony.
I have most of oldie Warzone zombies but recently got 2 missing ones: kadavers. I've never have occasion to field them when I was still into the game - stats amd rules were nothing special and models are just crap. Horrid even for my classics standard. But such animated corpses they fit tekron quite well. Besides they are quite funny: one with brain exposed and other with skin tissue ripped off the back. Necro-funny ^^
Also I also tried new green / brown camo pattern but definitely prefer khaki (will use it on necromutants squad).

And the family picture.

Oh, and the last thing about Pyrkon painting contest: Sławol did just great job and managed to take great pics of all pieces displayed on the contest: if I remember correctly there were 65 entries!
Nurgle daemon beast (whatever) was just stunning - as well as others - check all the models.
Of course there was also group shot ov da winnerz: try to quess which of them is good ol' always positive as hell Demi ^^
Thanks all for great fun: organizers, judges and painters who dragged their precious toys to the spot. Hope to see at least some of them in 2016.

Pyrkon 2015

Hey again,

I had lots of fun during last weekend because of Pyrkon convention.
I was there last year just passing by but it was so cool I just couldn't miss it again. Next time I hope to take kiddo and wifet - might be fun.

Anyway it was big event, really big!
And there was probably everything sci-fi / fantasy related: prelections, games, cosplays, exhibitions, meetings with authors - you name it.

Of course I spent most of time with wargaming - finally I had opportinity to play some more Full Thrust and see Battletech in action (was really surprised there are still people playing that thing). It was also good reason to take Fabius Bile & Da Rotten Boyz and Chaos Dragon for a very long walk. Some photos I managed to take - below

You can find some more pics in the photobucket album.

See you on Pyrkon 2016!

Fabius Bile & Plague Marines

 Heya,

Last month wasn't generous for the hobby (both painting and gaming sadly...) for some mostly stupid reasons but even though I managed to finish another squad for Necromunda gaming: Nurgle combat patrol.

These were pretty much fun to paint: there are some oldschool models I got during past years and it's so good to see them out of the pile of shame finally, especially the beast ov Papa Nurgle. This one has been staggering around for many years and until now I didn't manage to find any use for it. Let's be frank: no matter how much I like whole Nurgle fluff the sculpt is just bad.
Buuut it fits nicely the rest of rotten company. Besides I should be able to adopt it for Necromunda with no problem.

As for the other demons (or: daemons) there's a single 90's plaguebearer and group of Heresy blights - I can definitely recommend those models: you can choose different heads and get command group so they are great choice for alternative plaguebearers unit. Since they are:
1.out of this world
2. rotting big time
probably every color chosen for painting will fit. Mine are olive, fleshy and yellow but if I ever get some more to paint I'll give a try to black and white. I am sure they won't mind.

The marines are oop plague marines and of course - Fabius Bile, Heinrich Kemmler of 41st millenium. All models got some minor conversions just to make them more unique, gathering all those damn bits in junk box has finally paid off.
Hope you like them.
I think I should paint some Redemptionists to purge the Nurgle filth...

And some more thing since the post is about slaves to Darkness:
while I was painting Fabius my kid came, sat next to me and asked for a model to paint. I gave him spare metal horse I got after an old commission and the youngling started slapping paint on it.
Mostly turquoise.
But it was nice to see him having fun. The Lead God is about to welcome another cultist. Poor kiddo, how can he know this is one way road...

End of another Ash wastes campaign

Hey again,

This post is also slightly delayed:
not sure is it because I had some more work recently or because that b!tch spring coming but I barely could made myself to sit down and paint anything.
Yeah, yeah - hobby should be fun and all but last weeks I am just fallen to pieces and need to be put together. Pronto!

Broken or not - there was something going on.

First of all we finished the Necromunda campaign about started last November.
It was only 9 games (there are only 2 players, remember?) but I was lots of fun and excitement - especially during rescue mission and the last match when we rolled hive quake on treachous conditions chart. After the last game difference between our gangs was ~400 pts so further games wouldn't be much fun.

At least for those motherlovin' shit... eee... PITslaves, hehehe...

And below you can see the badass team. During the campaign I had lots of luck during post battle sequence - just check how many sprinters are there!
No sh!t, my rescue team was running circles around the pit slaves sentries when I had to save Deadeye, the only sharpshooter in the squad. During whole campaign I've lost only 2 or 3 gang members so below are only the best of the best.

My killers are standing like they're placed the sheet: starting with da boss on the left and ending with useless melee beast - Barracuda.

Deadeye - probably my favorite ganger, got new colors after coming back home from captivity safe and sound. It was painted when I was yet a student so it was high time for fresh colors. Besides now with some camo added it will be even more deadly than now!
There are some more scavvies painted long time ago so hopefuly these will be also rewarded with brand new colors shortly.

Another small victory is the lasy of Heresy blights finished. These models are definitely worthy recommendation - thank to all those little nasty details painting is just very pleasant process and with a little bit of effort you can turn these demons into something really eyecatching and unique.
The only "problem" was choosing colors - since these are creatures out of our world practically every colors would be ok. I wanted to paint this one black first (sth like black zombies in Diablo PC game) but all in all I used something more common.
Common among zombies that is ^^

With this rotting fella done looks like there are only 2 plague marines left + maybe beast or nurgle / chaos spawn to have whole chaos cult finished. That's a nice surprise - I didn't plan to suddenly have another gang ready for action but it would be nice start for narrative gaming.

And the last thing for this post - kinda blast from the past.
Last week I brought very old project back to daylight from the miniatures purgatory. Few years back I got some ork vehiclezzz parts and with no better idea I attached them onto the cardboard construction and voila: wheeled dreadnought.
There's no specific idea for colors but since it's already desert yellow I think I'll hit it with several layers of yellow glaze and make it Bad Moons stuff.
Just hope I won't get bored or discouraged just after painting tyres ^^

Over and out!
