Cryx Seether #2

One more Cryx beast has just left painting station, ready to wreak havoc in the name of Lord Toruk!

It's always nice to add another model to the painted pile, it's double nice to support beloved army with one more killing machine, but the best thing is - it's the first Seether I painted so far which I really like! And it's most probably the 4th variant of this piece and probably it's not over - the previous version most probably sooner or taker will get fresh paintjob... 🙄

Funny thing about this model: it's based on the same chassis / hull / skeleton as Slayer and Reaper helljacks - which are both brilliant sculpts but Seether is kinda odd... No idea why - my guess is it's the matter of the "hood" which makes it goofy. Anyway I painted it several times before and it's the first time I am satisfied. I think part of success is the pose: the model is second hand piece, it's been cut and reposiotioned before so I had to make special base to prevent it from falling - and make it look kinda like charging. I didn't like original head so it's been replaced with plastic Slayer's bit.

As for colors I chose well tested light olive colro combo. I must say I like it much better then "original" painting. Somehow I cannot paint really dark models so they look nice enough to keep them.

Gorkamorka ork nob

I was actually starting preparing some models for the upcoming historical painting contest but because cutting parts off the frames and assembling winter US infantry is pretty boring, I decided to work on little something, which has been giving me sad look from the back rank of display case for quite a long time... 🥺

There's a story behind this one - just like behind everthing...
A solid while back, when we were still into Necromunda, I was trying to get and paint basic gang for Gorkamorka. The game was dead for a long time already but those days some models were still available on second hand market. I remeber I managed to get placcy ork trukk (with wrecker ball and metal ram) and ork nob - or whatever it's name was in Gorkamorka. Joy, oh joy!!!

Really couldn't wait to strip the paint and start working to give old models new shine 🤗

Sadly back days I used different stuff to wash models and as it turned out shortly - this time I used the wrong one. Plastic trukk got bended and kinda melted, leaving only metal parts stripped properly. The vehicle got ruined so it became reservoir of conversion bits for further projects. Like Dakka-Dakka bot... 🤖

Since there was no Gorkamorka gang anymore and I still had cool model, all I could do was painting it - which I did. I've never played any sort of greenskins so it got display plinth, got some painting and sadly - got forgotten shortly after. Until now. As veteran painter and gamer I am kinda ashamed such a cool sculpt didn't get proper painting so after it's been re-discovered last week decision was made to fix that. Heil Gork and Mork!

It's Gorkamorka range so it got desert themed base and rather bright paintwork contrary to the previous version. In fact it's the second model from GM ork line I painted so far - the previous was sacrificed on COFC mini exchange. Until now I haven't found any practical use for keeping greenskin model so Mister Nob became a souvenir (like Necromunda Cawdor juve), only this time - airplane, or rather: fighta-bommer, goes to the other corner of the planet.

Hope it arrives safe and sound and recipient likes this one.

Machine Wraith (Cryx) 👻

This time it's 100% blast from the past. 

That oldie machine wraith model has been staggering around my painting station for several years, and I got it don't even remember when did I get it. When I found it - it was sealed with thick layer of dust and was a friggin' mess. So decision was made to bring that nasty Cryx construct back to existence - another piece crossed off the list of shame.

Official paintjob is pretty dark, but I rather wanted mine copy to fit remaining Cryx force painted so far, so there's rust, dry pigments and such. After model was varnished with Revell matt it was kinda satin rather matt, so I airbrusheded it with another layer of varnish - this time Vallejo. Whole piece got that "mist" filter (no idea how to name it) and it took another layer of hand applied varnish to make most of it disappear. No idea was is the matter of temperature or varnish itself but I was seriously afraid the model would have to be washed and repainted. But it's more than fine for gaming.

I used to underestimate it back days - until I managed to possess first enemy warjack and turn it against own force. It's pure joy watching enemy smashing own (possessed) warjack in hope to shake evil spirit out of the cortex 😈

Dong ov Doom

Since I am still on Warzone wave and we've already had 3 Warzone games this year ( 😲) decision was made to pimp my trusty Dark Legion force a little bit so further battle reports pics are even more juicy. Apparently one of the most evecatching models from the old range is Unholy carronade. Yup - that's that self-propelled evil penis artillery.

My current version was painted 9 years ago and must admit I still like it (apart from the fact photos were fu#ced by Photobucket), but there's no weapon which cannot be improved by my loyal tekrons. After all - it's been in under my command for 9 years! 

Last time apart from fresh paintwork I changed original silly skulls-wheels for Ramshackle games set but now I wanted it to be more all-terrain vehicle, so tekrons put it on tracks.

At first I wanted to use solid, tank hull, to make it look even more serious, but then I found my buddy had spare Bren Carrier model from Bolt Action range. It turned out using this model should make Carronade keep original size (more less). Besides those slim, tiny tracks make whole piece look cute and goofy, so it fits old Warzone line of models just great.

It's been a while since I painted any vehicle from WW2 range so the hull got camouflage based on Jagdpanzer 38(t) and 38.M Toldi which were painted for Axis Hungarian army (sadly - I haven't painted anything else for this force). The cannon itself was slightly damaged while dismantling, so I decided to give it fresh paint. Extra bits come from WH40K Chaos vehicle sprue - for even more demonic goofyness.

Looks like it's high time to prepare new army list, roll out that beast to the front line and spit some seeds of doom over enemy army... 👺

Golem of darkness / Nepharite warlord

I didn't expect it but Dark Legion force got another character shortly after finishing secret kohorts last week. As mentioned before I had to paint somthing totally different after dealing with 13 red/rapsberry robes so old Golem of darkness model was just perfect for this task.

I really dig official artwork - this guy is just cold, cosmic killing machine. The sculpt is 95% flesh so painting is quick and easy using airbrush. It's large model so it should look just great among standard size cultists or indead legionnaires. Just check this beautie:

And here's the model - not as cool as artwork but still pretty good consindering oldschool Warzone range. The problem was the glaive's pole broke. It's thing and metal part so I couldn't pin the parts so model could be used as gaming piece.

The only choice was quick battlefield surgery. Initially I wanted to rebuild melee weapon palm and replace the original one but that was Golem's left hand would look kinda odd. After some excavation in the bits box I found enough parts to replace both palms: right one got gun instead of glaive, left one got chainsword / ripper / shrubbery cutter.
Why such weapon choice? 
It turned out there's another character called Nepharite warlord (junior nepharite) with no official model but carrying Voriche heavy handgun and one-arm Azogar (that bread cutter). And in game it's even better then Golem, because Nepharite warlord is commander of zombie squads boosting their more then pathetic statistics. So here it is:

M16 MGMC

After providing German army with the pink love machine the time has come to get something nice for the US force. Especially because I want to try something new on enemy Italians...

The general idea is to save some precious points by replacing "normal" tank by mobile AA battery - Italians use mostly light vehicles so HMG battery supported by anti-tank gun should be enough for them. And once again I've found something cool in the Warpainter's offer.

Must say the model available there is much better then Warlord's - much sharper and better detailed. There was some spare space around the gun so I also got stowage set - just to add some shames and colors to make whole piece look (hopefully) more interesting.

The turret you can see has been salvaged from the failed Krautmower project - that model has never seen the battlefield anyway so it became perfect candidate for parts donor. 

The turret is metal (Warlord) and I prefered some extra weight on the back, instead of printed battery. The barrels have been replaced with thin rods - original barrels are just way too bendy for safe transport and gaming.

I was pretty satisfied about the paintwork - it was pretty clean and bright, but when weathering came I just got carried away... Again... On the other hand war is a dirty hell 🙄

That's it for now, time to roll the new toy out and shoot some nazis... 💀

M12 Gun Motor Carriage

Hey,

So last week I finished M12 GMC - was working in a bit of rush because I was wanted to see it on the battlefield next day (it was huge disappointment - the 'uuugest barrel in the army performed like total crap - missed 3 times aiming for a building... Still it was fun to watch infantry hidden there, running like hell out out of the cover after the thing rolled in).

Anyway - the model is rather unique so wanted to make it even more cool.

It's a static model: it's task is placing in safe position providing heavy support. So I added some crew - they all comopse really nicely: I can imagine the commander is getting coordinates while the other two are having chit-chat waiting for the orders. Crewmen are mixed crew of Warlord's M7 Priest and M3 White scout car. And the model is available here.

Despite it's recent miserable performance I am seeing it during the next game, no doubt about it. It's just way too cool to be left in the display case!
