Finally!

It happened, it really happened! Last weekend I painted something!

I had no idea it will be such a joy but I think I am coming back to life after the exam trauma. So as you can easily guess what I finished is the buggy.
Sadly I gave up some ideas I had planned for this piece and just considered the model done, because I think I just spent too much time on a single piece - and moreover: the piece which cannot be used in Necromunda gaming ;)
But all ideas are noted down and one day I might come back to the project and add some stuff to make it more characterful.

I also discovered the reason why wip shots were so fucked up:
I haven't noticed wrong camera setting - portrait instead of macro. Better late then never I suppose. Hope you like the semi-final effect below:

Whate else?
The next day after taking pictures of the buggy I felt power-boosted and started painting another model - one of my scavvies, which turned out to be pretty nasty fucker in one of previous games.
I didn't on too much but after a few hours I realised the model might be finished by the evening and that's what actually happened: about 10PM I was applying the final layer of protective layer (not as matt as the producer claims) and the first scavvy from new wave of painting is here: Cayman (that's the bastard in the middle)

Have no idea why the damn camera didn't want to focus properly on the minature that's why I took group photo. One day when the whole gang of shite eaters is ready I think I will ask mahon for a pro pictures of the whole band.

The next day I was hoping for another painting-boost and prepared another nasty scavvy for some paintjob but apart from pinning the legs and finishing the base all what was done was the base.
After I realised there's no chance for spending a few hours on the model I made set of new tox bomb markers for the boss. Most of games we play last not more that 5 rounds so 3 markers should be just enough to make some opposing gangers glow in the dark hehehe...

As for our ash wastes campaign:
last Sunday 7th round of the campaign was played: Eschers vs Orlocks were fighting for the loot (Scavengers scenario that is). The game started slow and kinda boring: we were both trying to sneak up to 2 loot counters, grab them and get the hell out of there but suddenly everything changed:
both Deco and I realised we can wipe out a few of enemy models so all in all several gangers started acting pretty stupid and the final result was bullet in head of one of my lasgunners. Eventually my opponent grabbed loot counter and run away so in the theory the victory was mine but loosing an experienced ganger always hurts.
Good news is I managed to save enough credits to replace lasgun of one of my heavies with something much more proper and... hot...

And last but not least - clickable piccies has been finally added thank to Hellspawn's big help - cheers dude! I knew slackroom could be used for something useful! =P

That's it for now!

Game table + some WIPs

Another piece of spam and still nothing fully painted...
I definitely overestimated amount of free time I can get for minis while writing the previous log. Anyway works on the buggy are slowly pushed forward (almost) every day so finishing it is just the matter of time.
One thing I realised for sure: painting the vehicle and making the base was just fun - really enjoyed that phase. Sadly cannot say that about slapping paint over the crew.
I don't think it's the matter of sculpts but... Well... Don't really what it is:
I never had anything against orks (nor orks) so I suppose it might be color of the uniforms, amount of time I already spent on the thing combined with desire to paint sth from Necromunda range or the moon phase.
Here's the current stage of the project. I hope to add some old snotlings to make the think more oldschool and to break the whole sand monotony.
I also have to work on taking pictures: just after I downloaded these shots from the camera I compared them with the model. Model is brighter and to achieve similar effect I am forced to add some GIMP magic. I suppose the black background might be to blame but really cannot be sure. Earlier stage:

And bit more advanced:

What else?
The table. Or maybe I should say: THE TABLE.
It's really big (6x 24"x24") and I managed to put together all modules on the small table we use as the base. We had an idea to play a game on this monstrocity but to do that I'll have to rearrange (and probably get rid of some) stuff kept in the gaming bunker so we can move around the battlefield!
Also to make the table battle report - worthy it'll be good idea to finally finish it which also means painitng.
Until now I haven't painted anything such big and cannot afford fucking this job here - raising the project already costed too much time and effort. So the decision was made to start small research before I get any paint and apply it on the board. If you have any ideas or would like to share any experiences you have just throw a comment here or join proper threads on Chest of Colors or Frothers. Any constructive opinion will be appreciated! You will also find there bigger shots of the battlefield.

And speaking of the table - last Monday new module has been field-tested:
gang of Orlocks was trying to defend a water plant against horde of Scavvies. Thank to Deco's dice rollin' - badluck and great portion of training I applied on my Scavvies I managed to force him to leave the battlefield with one green juve dead and another captured.
And that means unless Deco can force his troopers to act veeery quiet my rotten-heads will be having Orlockburgers next weekend hehehe... ^^

Still not much painted but...

Heyah again,

Once again I cannot report a model has been painted (which means I haven't finished a single miniature this year...) but something was going on anyway.
Let's just hope soon I will be able to update any of my galleries with painted stuff - no time for hobby is getting more and more annoying.

So the first serious candidate for paintjob is the Slaanesh terminator:
last week I think I managed to finish assembling the guy and more-less finished version is below. I realise lots of people thinks the banner is just silly idea but I haven't used paper banner for ages so it's high time for a change.
I am still looking candidates for proper standard so if you have any ideas or suggestions - just shout, I will be grateful for any help. I was thinking about sth like this but all in all "classic" Warhammer banner seem to be more appropriate. We'll see.

Despite time for hobby is VERY limited I am still trying not to forget how to handle a brush and recently I added more paint on the buggy I got from Artur and deeply hope to finish main works on the vehicle this weekend.
I was taking pictures of step-by-step while painting so there might be spawned an article about it when the job is done and if the result is satisfying. It was really cool experience to use some military models painting tricks on the model - hope you like the current result.

And bit more advanced wip - on the final base.

As for the gaming - my sparring partner has FINALLY found old platform he bought ages ago and moreover - he decided to sactifice it on the altar of the Necromunda modular gaming table.
Unfortunately he used superglue to assemble the pieces so I had to break it and re-assemble using hot glue gun to fit the bunker below. Another strategic spot for heavy weapon operator has just been created so the next time I have to purchase plasma cannon for my Eschers hehehe...
The pic is quite shit but it was made using cellphone only so that should explain everything. Final pics will be way better.

And last but not least: shopping.
I didn't plan it but it was pretty good deal so all in all I didn't resist the temptation. I got old dark eldar haemonculi (to be used as cenobite priest for small Slaanesh warband), metal Arhiman - teally nice mini to be painted and sold on Ebay and old mounted demonette (with a bit of luck I will replace the rider with chaos marine). In the Slaves to Darkness book there was sth similar in 'Eavy metal section.
Hope not to ruin the steed - I really like these ugly fuckers.

Till the next time!

2012 bitching...

Hey again, in the year of apocalypse.

This year hasn't started they way I wanted, in fact is started pretty crappy (mostly in hobby matter) so the log starts with bitching.

I am mostly pissed because we already had an extended weekend here (3 days long) and we had not a single game played!
For fuck sake! Preparing table last year took pretty lot of time and effort, the campaign has been planned and my Necromunda sparring-partner decided to leave for heavy-drinking trip.
Oh well - let's just hope he was having good fun, because I fuckin' wasn't.

What else? More bitching!
Last evening I sent the payment for the real estate appraiser exam in March - papers will be send today or tomorrow. Exam is pretty expensive, fucking hard and the statistics ain't promossing...
But like I wrote: the ministry got the money so the Rubicon has been crossed. There's no other way but trying to learn as hard as possible trying to pass the shit asap.H ere's what is to be sent: whole the shit alltogether is over 2,5 kg brick of paper:

...containing a year of typing shit.
I am really happy this stuff has finally left my place.

But there's also funny piece in the whole bitching - cake:
some time ago I found the very first Warhammer model I painted ever for my buddy from high school (yeah, is was so long time ago - about 1997 iirc).
The guy was throwing away all old minis he got so I decided to adopt some of them and found this little dude. It's so damn ugly yet I am really happy I found it so not it stands proudly in the very middle of my display case :D

And the last hobby thing - I started assembling the buggy!
Sadly I don't think I will see it painted anytime shortly but I want to see it painted really nice and even got the idea for the color scheme and of course - nicey base. I think after the exam I will take a week off, hide in the deepest basement with paints and finish the toy.

Hope the next time there'll be less bitching and more miniatures.
Take care!

Scavvies strike again

Olla!

I am pretty amazed there is so much going on in my "hobby sphere":
despite much more home duties + lots of feckin' boring learning miniatures are getting painted (slowly) games are played.
This kinda reminds me year 2010: for many stupid reasons we were barely playing anything and at the very end of December we were playing a lot to boost pathetic statistics.
Fortunately this year games are played much more ofter - you will see the chart in the annual summary post ^^

So last week I was continuing works on the scaly model. Because there was a match set for Friday night I was hoping to finish it by that date.
But all in all there were too many glazes to be painted so Goliaths gang faced scaly at this stage:

Despite it was late wip stage scaly managed to take out of action one of the juves and get a bit closer to getting an advance. Looks like even partly painted models fight better than unpainted ^^

The day after the match I solved my problem and scaly was finished - and became my second entry for FUUK painitng contest.
I regret I suck bit time when it comes to painting freehands (a tattoo would look so nice here) but I am pretty satisfied anyway.
Looks like it's time to find a candidate for the second scaly - any ideas?

As for the game one thing is definitely sure:
gaming modules are just brilliant. Setting the table takes just 3 minutes as well as putting it back.
And as for the match itself: it was the first game of new campaign: this time Goliaths vs Scavvies. Scavvies are such a shit fighters but watching 20 models on the table is just priceless!
This skinky mass managed to drive off Deco's gangers but didn't manage to conquest any of his terrains and transform it into scolfurous wastes ;(
Oh well - maybe next time: I spent lots of credits for Karloth Valois so the number of my models might reach 25 - 30 minis!!!
And almost half ot it might be plague zombies!!!
Can't wait to start rolling hehehehe...

And the last thing:
after posting the comment about new Kromlech's toy (this uber cool buggy) Artur from Kromlech mailed me and told I can get some of the toys for providing photos of painted thing in exchange.
Sure I agreed: most of their products is simply not my cup of tea but this one is fucking sweet! I think it will end up in the glass case rather than on gaming table - such a cool thingy deserves some extra attention:

Laters!
