Death chicken herd done!

Apparently I've finally got all death-chickens painted! Re-painted actually. Yaaay! \o/

Nightwretches was the very last pair of deatch-chockens waiting for the fresh colors. They have actually been painted long, long time ago but it's been totally ditterent painting standard, and I didn't like it at all. Plus it didn't fit "modern warwafe" olive Cryx. I am double happy these are painted 'cause I can finally paint something else then another olive thing ^^

Just like Defiler and Deathrippers - the latest bonejacks got olive tone, but this time bit more dark. I run out of most green colors, so to make proper colors I mix light olive green from Vallejo line with browns, violets or whatever, and this time I must've added too much of it. Anyway, they look fine alltogether.

So here they are: led by the most evil shepherd of all - Lich Lord Terminus:

Cryx,Deathripper,Warmachine,demimorgana

Cryx,Deathripper,Warmachine,demimorgana

And the Nightwretches - still undamaged and fully operational:

Cryx,Deathripper,Warmachine,demimorgana

Cryx,Deathripper,Warmachine,demimorgana

These look almost the same so one of them got a decal so they can be recognized on rooster sheet:

Cryx,Deathripper,Warmachine,demimorgana

Cryx,Deathripper,Warmachine,demimorgana

And the pure herd - ready for action!

💀🐤🐤🐤🐤🐤

Hoping for another Warmachine game (soon) decision was made to save another pair of Deathrippers from unpainted-purgatory. Just like before I used "olive green" color combo. I like it much more then dark metal tone I used to paint before. To distinguish new guys they got Chaos star decals on side. That symbol is pretty universal, so it fits anything (Cryx included). I think I should rather use white decal instead of red. Might re-do it with brush to make it bit more striking.

Back days Iron Lich Asphxious leading herd of Death Chickens was really nasty thing to deal with: before Cryx spells got nerfed, Bonejacks were used to slam straight into the enemy and then to channel Breath of corruption at point blank range. More less. Under new rules I don't think these buggers could be any threat (they also run slower now) but these look damn cool so it''s just matter of time to field necro-poultry force!

From what I can see I still have 2 models waiting for proper painting - these are oldie nightwretches painted ages ago. They will be washed and paint to keep standard of rest of the army. After that I hope to paint something from Necromunda range - I'm getting pretty sick of that goddamn olive tone on every model ^^

So below - the herd at current stage. The one far right is slightly bigger model - it's based on plastic model upgraded with killa kan's crushing claw. I use these two models with converted heads as Ripjaws - in theory these are better version of classic Deathrippers, but I don't think I've ever seen them inflicting those legendary critical damage on enemy warjacks...

Battle report: Cryx vs Khador

Since oldie Warmachine is back in action again (you might have noticed recently Privateer Press stuff got pile of shame rescuing priority) my One True Foe and I decided to bring some full metal minis to the gaming bunker for 50 points skirmish battle, on ancient dragons boneyard.

To be honest it was kinda special event:
not only it's been ages since we were playing Warmachine, but also most or my opponent's army has actually been painted! Not by himself, but apart from Doom Reavers squad and a war dog, whole army was properly painted, based etc. Because of that I decided such a special battle also deserved special setting. For years I was looking for any idea what to do with these old bones, and as it turned out - these are great dead ancient dragnon's skull proxy 😁

It's been lots of fun - hope to play some more Warmachine soon, especially because I've been working on another pair of Deathripper bonejacks recently...

So here they are: both armies circling around ancient dragon's remains trying to get opportunity to strike:

Pistol Wraith (Cryx)

Last month a miracle happened: we had a Warmachine match! 😲

I am still impressed we've managed to assemble the game but definitely - my Cryx is hungry for more!
We played the latest edition - no back strikes, 360 degree line of sight, boosted warjacks etc. It was fine as game played after such a long break, but I think earlier version was much more "hardcore" so hope to dig out old rulebooks and give it a try. Anyway it was such a fun I decided to save some Cryx stuff from pile ov shame and the winner waaaaas... Pistol Wraith 👻

I remember that model was a blast when Escalation supplement was released - both as model and gaming unit. It was deadly on battlefield and I still consider it as one of the best and most characterful miniatures from Cryx line. There are some brilliant examples of painted miniatures in the webspace so my gaming model is no match for them, but I still like it and had lots of fun working on it. As for a base I used spare pile of skulls from screaming skull catapult and some placcy heads. I can actually imagine it haunting old battlefields, unable to leave unburied, restless bones. Or something.

So here it is. Hope to see it in action anytime soon.

And below - the only pic from recent game I've managed to get: Slayer and Reaper helljacks supported by Deathripper bonejack about to launch a charge against enemy Juggernaut (that was exactly the very same model I painted - I've almost cried while pulling it's arms off and ripping hull apart... Almost... 😁):

Deathripper (Cryx)

It's the end of October and yet I've managed save another model from the pit of oblivion!
Woo-hoo! 🥳

Surprisingly it's another plastic model from Warmachine new line, but contrart to those ghastly bane thralls - working on Toruk's lap dog - deathripper - was lots of fun. This model is part of Cryx leftovers my friend was getting rid of a while back, so I got it with missing head. That wasn't really a problem: although original model has skull and jaw, it can be easily replaced with almost any weapon you can imagine and robot would still look cool!

For example the previous deathripper was assembled using chaos terminator chain fist as the weapon. I couldn't find any spare termie fists this time, but I had spare killa kan's crushing claw - which turned out to be perfect robo-head prosthesis 👾

Color choice is my typical olive green mix - Cryx models look pretty cool and kinda believable painted this way. Blood stains should look really nice on such armour. So here it is:

And here family photo: Iron Lich Asphyxious is taking death chicken herd for a walk:

Off for some more Warmachine excavation...

Cryx Deathripper (conversion)

Cryx painting rampage continues!
Really, I totally forgot these models are so fun to paint!

After Slayer and Seether helljacks the time has come for something smaller and more cute - for Toruk's servants standards: Deathripper bonejack, Deneghra's lapdog.

It's actually very old conversion:
the body comes from Nightwretch, but I cut off the "beak" replacing it with chaos terminator powerfist and some wire. In my opinion it looks just better now not mentioning the fact it can be used as any bonejack proxy!

Ok, time for some field tests for this little bugger...
