Moon Clan (Chaos beastmen) #1

After dealing with Army of Slaanesh Warriors I started digging in ye bucket ov shame to find something old to reanimate and feed display case with it later. The initial plan was to paint something from Warhammer 40.000 - back days I started gathering some bits to build combat patrol size / RPG squad of Chaos renegades. I don't play WH40K but such warband would surely provide tons of conversion possibilities and therefore - tons of fun!

While browsing my resources I found that old display base which was made years ago. It was supposed to be part of Mordheim greenskins band. I even painted 2 or 3 goblins and snotlings suicide squad, but that was just it πŸ™„
During excavation works it turned out there are some beastmen models from the very best period ever and I have just enough of them to fill the display base! Chaos Gods be praised!

Most of models have never been undercoated, rest had to to be stripped to get fresh paintjob, worthy Children of Chaos!

As for this line of models I saw them for the first time in WD#218: it was that White Dwarf where Tale of 4 Gamers started, where models for fresh Chaos army were presented. I fell in love in Chaos since the very first glance into new Chaos force - sadly Beastmen and Daemons were 100% metal so it was totally beyond my reach those days 😒

These models are not only ΓΌbercool (and until now are the best Beastmen GW released ever) but also they remind me those creatures from Diablo: fallen ones and goatmen πŸ€— Speaking of which - ost from Diablo 1 is just brilliant background for painting these guys...

So here they are - first part of the project: about to deal with Redemptionists gang in juicy green ash wastes:

Chaos,Middlehammer,nostalgia,Oldhammer,Warhammer Fantasy,Beastmen,chaos army,Necromunda,Redemptionists,demimorgana

Da boyz:

Chaos,Middlehammer,nostalgia,Oldhammer,Warhammer Fantasy,Beastmen,chaos army,Necromunda,Redemptionists,demimorgana

Chaos,Middlehammer,nostalgia,Oldhammer,Warhammer Fantasy,Beastmen,chaos army,Necromunda,Redemptionists,demimorgana

And whole Moon Clan. And at the same time by whole Beastmen line collection:

Fever, flames and hell... And zombie bust for sale!

I can smell the flesh burning...
Oh yeah, there's nothing like a witch-burger with spicy napalm sauce. Emperor's own!

I took a break from painting chaos to work on little something from the exact opposite side of the barricade: Redemptionists.
It was good idea to take a breath of fresh air. Fresh fumes of burning gasoline actually. Still - I am quite satisfied about the first set of painted members of the crusade against The Filth.
At this point I'd like to thank to Ana (Chest of Colors) and Simon (Stone cold lead) for color choice assistance. It's probably the first time I was trying to paint something purple and it turned out unexpectedly fine. If anyone is interested the recipe is really simple:

- bright grey undercoat
- hexed lichen base color
- hexed lichen + warlord purple highlight
- hexed lichen + warlord purple highlight + polished bone
- some final highlights with polished bone
- purple wash

Have to practice it more - I want to see much stronger contrast so each and every heretic on the battlefield can see fury of the Emperor advancing.
I am bit disappointed how the white turned out - no idea why camera didn't catch lots of shades so I think I should either paint them stronger or add another hue (blue?). Don't want to screw it - the crusade must remain pure to deal with heretic scums big style.
So below - 3 amigos from new gang: Serap, Crowley and Bergstrom and on the next pic - all current gang members.

Another news - recently the decision was made to get rid some unused stuff from the shelf, 2 posts back I found new home for some West Wind minis, last weekend chaos knight found the owner so there's only zombie bust left before I choose the next group to send away.
If you think you can find the model useful and would like to adopt it - send the email, comment or whatever. I am sure we can get the agreement.

And for good start of new week - Redemptionists lullaby
Stay away from heretics and depravation, some more flamers will be painted shortly!!!

Couple of wips

Hey again,

This time it'ssomething slightly different: wip only post.
I would like to focus painting on these so I can see at least one group finished by the end of the year. It's no painting masterplan, schedule or anything similar for sure: every time I try to organize a bit long term painting nothing works.

So what do we have here?
First: slowly growing Nurgle combat patrol. All models I am going to use are here, except for the last blight. You can see 2 models placed on square bases: they were painted some time ago when I was still hoping for a Mordheim game.
I think I will put these two on round bases and add some sci-fi gear to make them fit better Necromunda, like chainsword for daemon and some grenades for warrior.

Another thing to consider is choosing the pet for gang leader: the candidates are oldie beast of nurgle (right) and metal chaos spawn (back).I want place whole group on the display base so there'll be not enough space for both monsters. The spawn looks better but it has no right arm so I'd have to re-sculpt missing muscle tissue. We'll see.

Now it's time for some sweet stench of burnt heretics!!!
Oh yeah, I've always had warm heart for these frenzied maniacs but hey, how can you resist hoods, chainsaws and gasoline?

Scavvies are more-less finished so I can give a try to these fellas. So far I painted like 3 test Redemptionists but none of them was something worthy keeping. The latest plan is to paint them as Cult Of Purple Hand (you know, The Enemy Within WFRP scenario):
white / bone rags and purple hoods. Rather striking color combo, huh?

And the last group of old minis: greenskins Mordheim (yeah, right...) band.
Few years back my buddy phoned and said: I am cleaning my old hobby shit, if you don't want what's left from my old orcs and gobbos army - I am throwing them away.

Shortly after several dozens or minis (mostly one pose orcs and goblins) were added to the unpainted pile. I've always loved goblins army: funny rules, cool fluff and fucking sweet sculpts (around Warhammer Fantasy 5th edition that is). As mentioned earlier - don't think I will ever play Mordheim but these models are way too cool just to rest in stringbags so decision was made to choose several representatives of greenskin races and here;s the mob.

Looks like there's a lot to do in 2015!

Laters!
