Blood Bowl rat ogre

Eeek! Eeek! 🐭

As mentioned after finishing ogre mercenary clubber I was considering starting Blood Bowl team and there's quite a big chance it's going to be Skaven team. Although I've played the game only once, I deeply believe I can play any game as long as I like the models.

And those stinky, eeking, sneaky creatures are just so damn cool...

But before purchasing any new model (skaven or any other) I decided to paint a test piece just to see what can I achieve to support the Blood Bowl league. Few years back I got pair of placcy rat ogres. These were supposed to be base for some sci-fi conversion, but it turned out I hated these plastic crap so much they both landed on the top of Pile of Shame.

Until last week, when one of these has been excavated...

Not sure this one's going to become a player, but I am sure I wanted to test some colors planned for the team. Skaven are pretty dirty (and stinky...) creatures so to provide some contrast I picked white for clohing and yellow for armour. That should look pretty effective worn by gray-ish creature standing on green grass.

At first I wanted tu use static grass applicator - haven't tried adding static grass on normal size base yet, but it turned out it got broken during last moving. Started digging in the hobby box and found some old modelling flock. It's really old - I guess I got it like 10-15 years ago?

It's nothing like static grass, but looks just fine as Blood Bowl field.
Add green base edge to this and we're back into 90's again! 🥳

I am pretty pleased about this test piece. Apart the fact generally I hate plastic models I could use is for gaming. Looking at the pics and model in th flesh there's something missing. Some strong, focal point. I was thinking about some fresh blood on the claw or on bandages (or on both) or maybe some reddish dirt around bandages.
I'll think about it - there's no need to be hasty while painting miniatures.

Ogre mercenary #5

So looks like the last of the ogres has just been crossed off the List ov Shame 🤗
I must say I am really happy to see the last member of the unit (most probably the leader!) finished but I'm pretty surprised it took me so long to get the job done.

I mean: no matter how much I like it the model is nothing big or complicated (like some multipart, paint in the ass dragon or something similar) and the painting was just fun - it's the magic of models from mid 90's I guess. Maybe I've been carried away too far by Bolt Action and WW2 related stuff. Neverming - it's good to be back in ye Olde Worlde 😁

At this moment I am correcting paintjob on one the ogres and looking for the proper display base for them. Next I'm going to try some speedpainting on skeleton unit so I can finally take a picture of (slowly) rising Army of the Dead...

Ogre mercenary #4

I am still waiting for some heavy support for my slowly growing Bolt Action Hungarian army so in the meantime decided to paint something different. The ogre mercenaries have been waiting for some support for quite a long time so now they finally got the 4th guy! 🤗

Like before I chose natural tones trying to make the model look rather real instead of "total fantasy" like in oldie army books and White Dwarf issues. Definitely like the final result, it's much more than enough for gaming purposes. Painting this fella was lots of fun - just like the rest of the team: the magical charm of mid 90's I guess. I know there are different opinions but IMHO these ogres plus orcs and goblins line are what defines whole that middlehammer aesthetics. And what got me hooked into the hobby.

Looking at the pics I think the mace should've been painted more thick orange, like totally corroded nasty piece of iron but like it anyway - provides nice contrast with pole and flesh.

So looks like there's one more left plus getting rid of blood from the first one, and I can take a family shot 😎

Just before having short holidays my buddy invited me for Blood Bowl game - to introduce the game and show what's it all about. It must've been something, 'cause he already has 5 different teams!
I started little research - until now I was pretty sure there're no interesting (that is: metal) models available, but, to my surprise, I've found some really cool teams, ready to kick the spiky ball, break limbs and chew grass!
At this stare it's kinda teaser only - I am still choosing THE ONE team. Was pretty sure it'd be Undead squad, but after checking the options I am torn between Skaven,Chaos and Deaders of course. Hope to make the decision before finishing the last ogre mercenary 🐭

Jagdpanzer 38(t) "Gulash"

Howdy,

July is nearly over so I'm glad I was able to boost painting statistics by one more model:
Hungarian tank destroyer - Jagdpanzer 38(t) "Gulash".

After 38.M Toldi it's the second unit for my (veeery slowly) growing Bolt Action Hungarian army. It's more painting than gaming project actually. Because of trying to relocate to Big City and some other life issuses, I don't have enough spare time to paint another infantry swarm. But I have just enough time to practice Hungarian ambush camo and slap some paint on Warpainter's candies... 😊

It's the second Hetzer I've painted during my hobby career. The previous one was painted for my brother almost 4 years ago (sigh!). That one was Warlord's model - it was simply horrible sculpt and cast (sorry...). The new one is Italeri's production - clear, sharp, absolutely no complains.

Once again I gace a try to painting some camo, which was such a relief after painting all those US vehicles! I am even more happy I managed to resist the urge of applying mud - every time I open the pot I get berzerk  and ofter ruin the paintwork.
Hope you like the paintjob.
Some more heavy support from Warpainters foundries should come next... 😎

And my whole Hungarian force at current state. Almost 300 pts ready for battle! 😁

Laterz!

Neo-soviet NBC suit squad

Recently neo-soviet war bot has been painted but we all know without invantry support all war machines are easy targets for anti-tank squads, partisans etc.

I've been big fan of old EM4 / Mark Copplestone's models so while looking for proper candidates for pos-apo troopers I've check future skirmish line. Until now I've painted several gangs based on EM4 models and in my opinion they are just supercool:
not overdone, but full of character and oldschool spirit.

As for red stars these are decals from Bolt Action - I had 2 or 3 but thank to Marcin (4generals commander) I got enough of them for whole squad. Thanks mate once again!
Hope you like the final effect, now I'm looking for proper transport for da boyz:
