Undead army - current state

Oldhammer Weekend Poland 2022 project is nearly done - just a few characters left to be painted and replaced. Among them there is a wraith champion.
I really like those floating housecoats, but I have dilemma about choosing color scheme:
should it be 90's color combo or maybe ghostly-white - for strong contrast with the army.

I posted short poll on Middlehammer FB group to help me make that crucial decision and I was asked to show the rest of the army to make voting easier. So here it is.

I have no idea how to take decent pics of such size - I think large backdrop sure would be helpful. But photos give overall impression what is under command of my Lords of the Dead. There's still a lot to be painted to finish WHOLE army:
cavalry, another screaming skull catapult, metal skellies, more zombies, wights, wraiths, wight lord on wyvern, Dieter Helsnicht on manticore and more characters... 😨

Lots of fun for long winter evenings πŸ§›‍♂️

  2. Already in this way the army appears to us more than fearful: excellent is the effect that the different units have side by side, from mummies to skeletons, from ogres to wraiths to zombies. And however you managed to give uniformity to all' by choosing compatible and not too bright colours, except for the champions and the characters.
Perhaps Nagash could also recruit the giant gray cat in the background into his forces ...😼

  5. Great looking army. I remember seeing the Ogres before, so it's nice to get a group shot. I'd suggest you do the wraiths with the blackish colour scheme of your army. Add some colour in the depths of the hood/arm holes for contrast. A glowing green or blue or something like the flames from the corpse cart? Most of your units have an accent colour in small amounts, so it would seem a reasonable expansion of the same thing.

  6. Thanks guys!

    @dabev: thanks for another suggestion!
I got so many of them already, that I'm afraid painting at least one test model will be necessary πŸ˜‰

  7. Really digging the army so far! It's nice to hear that reinforcements are on the way! ;) The photos seem pretty decent to me. Now I want to do my army's current state photo! :D

  8. Do that!
That drags the audience which is pretty important for decaying blogger community 🧟‍♂️

    1. Decaying indeed, you’ve got that right! And it’s such a shame, I think the blogs are superior to Instagram and Facebook in many ways, and much more personal. I wish I started my blog 10 or 20 years ago. I have 11,6 K followers on Instagram and 22 on Blogger – that says it all. πŸ˜πŸ˜† I feel nothing drags the audience to blogs anymore. And I dislike the fact that everyone is using phones instead of computers these days. You cannot showcase big units, armies or dioramas properly on such a small screen. Furthermore I don’t understand why is there no follow button on Blogger mobile view. It makes no sense. Correspondingly, I think it’s sad that the forums are obsolete. There were so many great forums back in the day. Many of them still exist but I feel sad when I visit them and see a few administrators trying to keep the thing alive. Ok, now I’m starting to ramble so I’ll stop. πŸ˜€

    2. I'm with you mate!

My thoughts exactly. And I guess thoughts of most oldschool/hardcore bloggers. What pisses me off most is the fact the "mindless" blowsong / clicking pictures is on the top, instead of anything demanding some more commitment.

You are also right about forums. Back days I used to be very active user of several hobby forums and had great relation with many painters. Now it's mostly "Catch a Like and f#ck off"... πŸ™„

Long time ago I realised I am still keeping the blog for myself only: I like painting stuff, getting if photographed and I like keeping the materials in some I know.

Great to know there are people who like my stuff - it's very motivating sharing same or similar views.

      Even it's just rambling... πŸ˜‰

    3. Well said! :)
I too intend to keep my blog alive. I enjoy adding content, cataloguing my miniatures and keeping everything in one place. It's like a hobby diary of some sort. :) It's a place where I can always escape to and enjoy my free time.
And yes, sharing ideas and views with likeminded people is really rewarding. Even if there is just a few of us. 🍻

    5. I find I only comment using my desktop....maybe it's similar for a lot of people. I think there are clusters of active blogs, but the blogosphere has become fractured, so many people aren't aware of others.

    6. True.

My guess is whole blogging thing will become popular again in a few years when another stupid fashion comes and reading old blogs will be sexy... πŸ™„

In thea meantime all we can do is updating our sites πŸ˜‰
