Gorkamorka ork nob

I was actually starting preparing some models for the upcoming historical painting contest but because cutting parts off the frames and assembling winter US infantry is pretty boring, I decided to work on little something, which has been giving me sad look from the back rank of display case for quite a long time... 🥺

There's a story behind this one - just like behind everthing...
A solid while back, when we were still into Necromunda, I was trying to get and paint basic gang for Gorkamorka. The game was dead for a long time already but those days some models were still available on second hand market. I remeber I managed to get placcy ork trukk (with wrecker ball and metal ram) and ork nob - or whatever it's name was in Gorkamorka. Joy, oh joy!!!

Really couldn't wait to strip the paint and start working to give old models new shine 🤗

Sadly back days I used different stuff to wash models and as it turned out shortly - this time I used the wrong one. Plastic trukk got bended and kinda melted, leaving only metal parts stripped properly. The vehicle got ruined so it became reservoir of conversion bits for further projects. Like Dakka-Dakka bot... 🤖

Since there was no Gorkamorka gang anymore and I still had cool model, all I could do was painting it - which I did. I've never played any sort of greenskins so it got display plinth, got some painting and sadly - got forgotten shortly after. Until now. As veteran painter and gamer I am kinda ashamed such a cool sculpt didn't get proper painting so after it's been re-discovered last week decision was made to fix that. Heil Gork and Mork!

It's Gorkamorka range so it got desert themed base and rather bright paintwork contrary to the previous version. In fact it's the second model from GM ork line I painted so far - the previous was sacrificed on COFC mini exchange. Until now I haven't found any practical use for keeping greenskin model so Mister Nob became a souvenir (like Necromunda Cawdor juve), only this time - airplane, or rather: fighta-bommer, goes to the other corner of the planet.

Hope it arrives safe and sound and recipient likes this one.

Necromunda Cawdor juve

I am actually working on some more winter infantry for Bolt Action, but while lining up models for painting - single Cawdor gang juve from oldie Necromunda line appeared, so couldn't resist working on that one first. That brings memories: back days we used to play long Necromunda campaigns on regular basis. During time we were hyped by the game I've managed to collect several gangs - among them Cawdor.

I've always like those religious freaks, especially after I saw Cawdor gang as Golden Daemon contest entry in WD#218. Despite that I've never managed to paint a single model from that line - until now. No idea why really: each and every mini was unique (just like in other gangs), so painting never gets boring.

But better late then never after all. Working on this dude was pure pleasure - so much I am actually considering digging out another unpainted gang, so it finally gets proper colors. And because it's kinda special piece I decided to refresh tradition of sending souvenirs - hope it arrives safe and recipient likes it ☺️

Great Unclean One

Long time no see. Again... 🙄

For some mysterious reason painting stuff takes me more and more time - my guess the reason was that goddamn summer so Cthulhu be praised for there's autumn ahead.

Anyway today I've finally managed to finish oldie Great Unclean One model from early 2000's. It's probably 4th or 5th G.U.O. piece I painted so far but somehow working on versions of this rotting dude is always ton of fun. Since I had absolutely no gaming use for this model I decided to paint it kinda different way - blue is pretty original tone then it comes to Nurgle stuff. Looking at painted piece I must say I like that color combo.

Like I said I have no use for it so at the end of painting progress decision was made to make a souvenir of this chaotic blob. It's pretty big and eye-catching model so it should look decent in any self respecting office 😎

So here it is: charging troll mutant, straight from rad-zone:

And here: about to devour whole NBC suit squad!

And finally solo session - after eating everything and everyone:

Take care 🦟

M8 Scott "Bushmaster"

I didn't think I might get anything painted yet in 2023 but I guess that only means miniature painters must fight to the very end on hobby front. This little cutie is actually accidental paintwork. Last months our small Bolt Action community got 2 more recruits so I am trying to get my ass back into gaming. After preparing new section of forest I was asked about playing game from Normandy selector. Personally Normandy war theatre for me is as good as any other as long as I have proper models and here I can provide my G.I.s with M8 Scott Howitzer Motor Carriage - which is just really cool looking model.

I've painted such thing before at the beginning of COVID isolation 3 years ago but don't think it was ever tested in proper gaming. Besides shortly after it was turned into Easter gift for my son (when I was still hoping to infect him with miniatures hobby).
Anyway he got it almost 3 years ago and I got it back maybe 1,5 year ago? That was pretty sad experience for me: not only he turned it back but also model was kinda ruined. They were having some renovation at home and whole model was covered with thick layer of plaser powder or something. Model was fucked - definitely wasn't display piece anymore.

The piece has been starring at me all that time until I decided to get my shit together and make it useful once again. The paint has been washed off so the howitzer could support Americans fighting against zee Germanz in Normandy. M8 Scott is nice and simple model. US models were painted just olive so getting it done didn't take much time. Despite that some shading, decals and weathering can make any model look interesing and believable.

Did my best trying NOT to get into weathering frenzy again. Hope my trusty G.I.s can make proper use of this thing kicking German army out of Normandy sector:

Demon hunter (Mishima)

I was actually hoping for painting some more undead legionnaires for nephatire warlord's squad, but instead decision was made to work on rather unusual piece for my taste:
not only alive but also pretty bright 😁 My latest victim was demon hunter from late 90's.

Mishima models are just supercool. The idea of sci-fi samurai faction supported by cool models is something you cannot pass without turning back. Sadly when it comes to playing games I am monogamic and my sould has been sold to forces of darkness long time ago, so don't think I will command Mishina force ever. But that doesn't mean I cannot paint something from that range for a change.

Until I started working on the piece I wasn't sure about the sculpt: I used to think it's just medicore. But I changed my mind just after applying undercoat - model is simply great and not just for oldschool standards. As for color choice I tried to keep it less cartoony then official Warzone paintjobs. Initially the blade was supposed to be painted bright silver but then I thought Ki-force ensorcelled, hot as hell blade is way more suitable to face monstrocities like Alakhai the Cunning:

Here demon hunter is dealing with remains of local secret kohorts:

The model is actually gift piece so it might see some combat tomorrow night and after that it starts the journey to the recipient. And next time: evil machine should roll in... 👾

Skeleton guard

A while back a friend of mine asked me about stuff I paint. One thing led to another and in the end I agreed to paint another souvenir piece. Ho! Ho! Ho! 🎅

So deader below is simple rank and file piece from Wargames Factory, equipped and armed to fit bronze age setting. It's was fun to get it done - painting skeletons is always fun actually. The lean back pose was kinda accident at work. To get paints set faster I used hairdryer but I put it for bit to long and bit too close and suddenly model started bending. But the pose turned out just so natural I might give it a try while assembling / painting more deaders.

Merry Deadcember! 💀

PS. I gotta get myself brighter backdrop - this one seems to suck colors of the picture... 😒

Juggernaut (Khador)

Recently some of my trusty Cryx models have been rescued from the pile-of-shame tar pit so there was a plan to paint some more candies for Warhammer Undead army for a change. But before that I decided to paint little (well not that little actually) something for my buddy to boost him to get rest of his Warmachine's Khador force painted.
Or at least assembled... 🙄

That's right: back days before all those utterly stupid units have been released Warmachine was just over the top game. Few week back we were talking about it and decision was made to take old warjacks for a walk. My friend used to run Khador army, but from what I know his old models have been sold long time ago, so now new force is being grown.

What you see below is Khador's heavy warjack - Juggernaut.
It's one of core units of this faction: heavily armored, strong hitting and reliable. Not even mentioning the fact it's metal model! 😍

Usually Khador models are painted red - according to the fluff these are kinda steampunk Ruskies. I've never liked it so this one was done using mostly "natural" colors. Red elements were added for nice contrast. I like the final result - hope this model will encourage my trusty old foe to get rest of models painted. Playing with unpainted stuff aint's worth battle report 🙄

And little technical thing:
Recently I read about some blogger updates. There must be something about it, because I've been getting e-mail notifications about new comments under posts - which don't appear on the blog. No idea what's the reason but I'm more then grateful for constant support 😊

Talisman's Troll

This time it's something quick and easy (more - less...): the troll from Talisman boardgame.
It's a gift model for my buddy and looks like it's the second paintjob-gift in a row!
Time to leave do gooder's path and paint something from my own the pile ov shame...

Anyway I used to play Talisman's 1st Polish edition in mid-late 90's and back days it was just supercool. Despite the fact there were cardboard characters instead of miniatures. I was curious about quality of new models but after getting it done I am sure I prefer metal stuff.
So at least at this poin it's nothing new 😁

Hope the troll is going to have lots of successful clubbing now, having fresh colors. Maybe this one will encourage my buddy to paint rest of miniatures from the Talistan box.

Boar APC (Stratominis)

Apparently I've managed to cross one more model off the list of shame list yet in 2021! 🥳

It was rather quick paintjob. I got this cute 15 mm scale vehicle together with Bullshark model and the initial idea was to make it part of mech's base to show it's actual scale and size. But it turned out APC was way too big to be put under robo-feet so it ended up as independent model. Must admit I like Stratominis range more and more so it's pretty probable I'm gonna paint more of that stuff sooner or later. Especially retrobots range is more than tempting...

Since it was supposed to be part of the base or just terrain feature I got it without wheels - all I needed was the hull. But after the Bullshark-plan changed I had to replace them with something. The best replacement I could find were spare bits from oldie Chimera APC. Luckly for me I keep all spare parts I can get (scavenger mode: ON).

As for paintjob I gave a try to camouflage I painted on my WW2 Hungarian vehicles (Jagdpanzer 38(t) and 38.M Toldi) but on smaller scale. It turned out ok I quess. That's good news if I ever decide to step into Flames of War or  anything else from 15 mm scale stuff.

But the model is also delayed gift for special friend of mine. Hope the Polish Post won't f#ck the job and piece arrives with no delay and undamaged. Also hope the recipient will like it 🤞

See? Too beaucoup ^^

M8 Easter egg

Some quick bloggy feeding before bringing something more serious 😉
Easter daemon is nearly here but looks like the video game I ordered for my kid won't arrive before middle of May 😑 Stupid thing, but none self-respecting dad can leave the kid without a souvenir on Easter, Xmas or any other similar occasion, correcto?

Several times before he mentioned he likes M8 Scott I painted recently so decision was made the model needs new home and new master. It was painted for gaming purposes but it actually never seen game table which makes is even better gift: no bullet holes etc.

And since the howitzer got promoted to the special gift, it also recieved special display base - it simply makes storing easier and looks much better from a distance. Besides just like in case of Mordred the Damned I put some special dedication on the bottom.

The piece is attached to the base by 2 cut screws - this prevent model from falling off but at the same time it can be taken off any time to stand against  boy's LEGO horde 😊

Merry Easter lockdown!
