Eradicator Deathdroid

Pretty hard to believe but I've just realised it's been over 6 years now since I've painted my first Eradicator. Must've been trapped in statis field or something... 😳

Good to be back anyway - changing one hell for another.

After successfully dealing with nepharite of Semai I decided to give a chance to another oldschool Warzone monstrocity - Cybertronic's Eradicator. This one was pretty challenging because like 8 years ago (?) friend of mine tried to assemble it and kinda did it but assembled legs wrong direction, cut off missle launchers' joints plus did some other, minor mutilations. After striping car spray I had to pin all the pieces with 1 mm thick wire to make it gaming model.
Models feet were casted on single metal base which forces static pose. Since the robot was already in pieces and waiting for some serious drilling (hehehe...) I cut the base in half to spread the legs - the idea was to make it more dynamic, like moving instead of just standing. Rocket launchers were damaged so I replaced them with hunter-killer missles from Imperial Guard Chimera set. Wasn't sure about it at first but now, looking at the final pictures - likey.

As for painting the idea was to make it look similar to original, bright blue tone. But then I looked at neo-soviet NBC suit squad finished a while back and decided to paint the Death Egg so it fits both Warzone and post apo setting (too bad I didn't add any red star).

I am really glad I managed to save this piece of history from the oblivion. Especially there's annual Warzone game ahead and I am forcing fully painted Cybertronic force! 🤗

Ladies and gentlemen: here's The Death Egg!

And the same Death Egg spreading communism over dark-red future fields of battle:

This is another model which got me time travelling again.
I started thinking what might happen to my hobby stuff after I'm dead.
Cannot throw that thought out my mind.
I feel so wrecked and tired.

  1. I can take all your metal if you ERADICATE yourself some day. ;)

  2. Great chipping effect and choice of colors. The base is great as well!

  3. Cheers guys!
It was great to bring these two damaged models back to use! 😊

  4. I loved how you complimented yourself in "after dealing with great success with my nepharite" 😁 such bastard 🤣

The death chocolate egg is one of these models screaming out loud OLD and Warzone. True chunky classic.

As much as I do love the colorful classic one, the fact it's now compatible with VOR Maelstrom's Neo Soviets (who knows what did these bastards put inside, go figure, giant mutant hamster wheel powering it) pumps up the rating for me.

Also I find quite balanced how muted scheme and weathering make it lean to a modern look yet the over the top missiles kick him back to ludicrous classic extravaganza.

Congrats on the walking testicle. You could name it Easter-oid (the name has it all).

  5. Heh,

Dealing with success meant: "painting that model at all" - for most of my hobby life I've been considering that model total crap, not worthy slapping any paint on it!
    I was wrong 😁😉

    Glad you like it.
There's a chance I might be converting and painting one more Egg-o-Matic but this time with no arms...

    1. Maybe adding small arms at the front, t-rex style? For handling instead of fighting I mean.

Like the Tachikoma mechs from Ghost in the Shell

    2. Hmmm...

      I could paint Eradi-Tachikoma-tor full yellow... 🤔

    3. It's funny, the pop culture item which this most reminds me of is not tachikomas, but the "mousers" from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This thing is like a Mega Mouser that the turtles would have to fight at the end of the episode.

    4. Funny thing - I cannot recall these "mousers" and I've been watching TMNT back days. Like... 30 years ago... 😳
      God I'm old! 😳

  6. I do love this one! The blue egg was pretty good, but this kind of grey is simply fantastic, makes it look menacing, I love it. Please do (& convert) more!

    1. Thanks Sub!

That menacing look is effect of repositioning legs - simple but effective! 😉

  7. Well done! Soon or later I should paint mine too, but at the moment I've stopped to paint my Warzone miniatures and all my energies are focused as a Referee and Player of Rpgs ;)

No worries - mine model waited patiently for many years before I brought it out. Sooner or later yours will get it's turn 😉
